Softball Game Preview: Foran Lions vs. Cheshire Rams

Foran hasn't had much luck against Cheshire recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Lions will challenge the Rams at 4:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Foran 1.5, Cheshire 0.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Foran's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. Everything went their way against North Haven as they made off with a 9-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won nine matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Not much got past Abigail Corris, who gave up just a hit and racked up 17 Ks to keep North Haven off the board. Corris has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Norah Bove, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Ariella Diorio was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Foran hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Haven struck out 17 times.

Meanwhile, Cheshire waltzed into their game on Monday with 14 straight wins... but they left with 15. They walked away with a 6-1 victory over the Titans.

Foran's record now sits at 13-2. As for Cheshire, their record is now 15-1.

Foran suffered a grim 6-0 defeat to Cheshire in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
