Basketball Recap: Vidalia Gets Big Win over Higher-Ranked Franklin Parish

Vidalia lost to Franklin Parish back in November of 2023, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The Vidalia Vikings greeted the New Year with with a 78-64 win over the Franklin Parish Patriots. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Vikings' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 229th, while the Patriots are ranked 28th).

Vidalia is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-13 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.0 points per game. As for Franklin Parish, they dropped their record down to 11-10 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Vidalia didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 62-25 win against Delta Charter on the 3rd. As for Franklin Parish, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 57-42 loss against Ouachita Parish on the 3rd.
