Soccer Game Preview: Pinecrest Academy vs. Buford

The Pinecrest Academy Paladins will head out to challenge the Buford Wolves at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are still undefeated (Pinecrest Academy has 16 wins , while Buford has 15).

Pinecrest Academy had to skate by with only a one-goal margin when they last took the pitch, which might have inspired the eight-goal drubbing they dealt East Forsyth on Friday. The Paladins blew past the Broncos 9-1. Considering Pinecrest Academy have won 12 matchups by more than two goals this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

They hit East Forsyth with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Fia Del Balzo (3), Courtney Moses (3), Portia DeFehr (2), and Elena Snyder.

Meanwhile, Buford faced Northgate in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. Wolves won by a goal and slipped past the Vikings 2-1. Two seems to be a good number for Buford as the team scooped up a win with the same number of goals in their previous game.

Buford pushed their record up to 15-0 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 45 goals over those nine contests. As for Pinecrest Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 16-0.

Pinecrest Academy suffered a grim 4-0 defeat to Buford in their previous matchup back in March of 2022. Can the Paladins avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
