Baseball Game Preview: Lancaster Eagles vs. Castaic Coyotes

The Lancaster Eagles will head out on the road to take on the Castaic Coyotes at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Castaic took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Lancaster, who comes in off a win.

On Friday, Lancaster made easy work of Antelope Valley and carried off a 16-1 victory. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Antelopes recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, Castaic unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of Saugus by a score of 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Coyotes have suffered since March 29th.

Andrew Bond was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Castaic saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jr Yera, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Lancaster's victory bumped their record up to 12-14. As for Castaic, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-10.

Lancaster couldn't quite get it done against Castaic in their previous meeting back in May of 2023 as they fell 9-4. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
