Basketball Recap: Issac Martinez Key Part of Team Effort in Cardinals Win

There's no place like home for Lingleville, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They had just enough and edged the Ballinger Bearcats out 57-55.

Lingleville got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Issac Martinez out in front who went 8-for-20 to rack up 22 points in addition to seven steals and five assists. That's the most steals Martinez has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jorge Toledo, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Lingleville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Lingleville has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 23-9 record this season. As for Ballinger, their loss dropped their record down to 16-16.

Lingleville has already played their next match, a 45-40 defeat against May on the 18th. As for Ballinger, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 56-40 victory against Coleman on the 14th.
