Softball Recap: Robinson Rams vs. Woodson Cavaliers
After flying high against West Potomac last Wednesday, Robinson came back down to earth. The Rams fell 7-4 to the Woodson Cavaliers on Thursday. The Rams were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cavaliers earlier this season, when they won 6-3.
Aleaha Burgy was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Burgy was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.
Burgy wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Emily Cohn, who went 1-for-2 with one triple.
Robinson has also been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. Woodson's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-8.
Robinson wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 10-1 defeat against Forest Park on the 14th. As for Woodson, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 19-2 loss against Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association on the 14th.
