After a string of six wins, Archbishop McCarthy's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a 47-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Gulliver Prep Raiders. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mavericks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 29-23 back in December of 2024.

Gulliver Prep found their leader in sophomore Mikayla Brown, who posted 28 points. That makes it ten consecutive games in which Brown has scored at least a third of Gulliver Prep's points. Another player making a difference was Caitlin Dauphin, who put up 13 points.

Archbishop McCarthy's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-9. As for Gulliver Prep, their win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-8.

Archbishop McCarthy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 71-42 victory against Key West on the 18th. As for Gulliver Prep, they will face off against Divine Savior Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
