League recap: First place up for grabs as Eagle's View and Providence jockey for top spot

3A District 2 league recap: 3/8/13

League leaders Providence (2-0 in 3A District 2 play, 5-3 overall) and Eagle's View (1-0, 3-1) will look to grab hold of first place in the standings this week. Over the past week, the Stallions was 2-1 and the Warriors went 0-1.

Top honors in the league this week go to Trinity Christian, which finished with three wins overall, good for best in the league. The Conquerors beat University Christian 5-4, Montverde Academy 13-10 and Champagnat Catholic 16-2.

Christ's Church Academy's pitching staff had a strong showing this week, allowing only 26 hits and 14 walks, both of which led the league.

The Eagles' Matt Brown was locked in this week, and led the league with a .444 average (4-for-9) over that span. For the season, he's hitting .462, good for first in the league. Brown has six hits total this season.

Christ's Church Academy's Brown led the league in strikeouts this week with eight. He's first in the league with 16 total strikeouts.



Brown struck out eight in Hilliard's 8-4 win over the Eagles on March 4. Over his five innings pitched he allowed three runs on seven hits.
