Softball Recap: High Point Christian Academy Has No Trouble Against Cannon

Fans were treated to a battle of the Cougars on Thursday. Everything went High Point Christian Academy's way against Cannon as High Point Christian Academy made off with a 12-1 win. High Point Christian Academy hasn't had any issues with Cannon recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Paisley Dixon looked comfortable as she struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Hailey Allred and Blakely Bowman did most of the damage at the plate: Allred went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Bowman scored three runs and stole Four bases. while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits Bowman has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Maci Burkhart, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

High Point Christian Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .579. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cannon only posted an OBP of .286.

High Point Christian Academy's record now sits at 5-1. As for Cannon, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-4.

Coming up, High Point Christian Academy is taking a road trip to square off against Uwharrie Charter Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Uwharrie Charter Academy will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last. Cannon will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Gaston Christian at 4:30 p.m. on March 25th. Cannon has given up an average of 6.6 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
