Basketball Recap: Zaida Kolbeck's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Marshfield over Westfield Area

After flying high against Baraboo last Tuesday, Marshfield came back down to earth. The Marshfield Tigers took a 59-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Westfield Area Pioneers on Friday.

Marshfield's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zaida Kolbeck, who went 6 for 15 on her way to 21 points. Kolbeck's evening made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least 16 points. Lauryn Katzenberger was another key player, putting up eight points.

Marshfield's loss dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Westfield Area, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Tigers challenge the Panthers at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Marshfield is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.6 points per game this season. As for Westfield Area, they will take on Nekoosa at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
