Softball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is Melrose-Mindoro's Seventh in Last Eight Outings

Melrose-Mindoro lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Arcadia, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Tuesday's contest. The Mustangs put the hurt on the Raiders with a sharp 16-9 win on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won nine games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Emma Severson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and three unearned) runs on ten hits.

At the plate, Bella Rozek was a standout: she fired off two home runs, four runs, and five RBI while going 4-for-5. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Cooper Zeman was another key player, going 4-for-5 with four runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Melrose-Mindoro kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive matches.

Melrose-Mindoro has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.1 runs over those games. As for Arcadia, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-5.

Coming up, Melrose-Mindoro will host Independence/Gilmanton at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Arcadia, they will venture away from home to face off against Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
