Football Recap: Madysen Dietz Leads El Capitan's Defense on Saturday

El Capitan saw some tournament action on Saturday. They walked away with a 13-6 victory over the Turlock Bulldogs. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Gauchos' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 39th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 147th).

El Capitan had a senior duo take command as Aaliyah Simonian threw for 138 yards and two TDs while completing 90% of her passes and Avnoor Bains picked up 90 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

El Capitan didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Madysen Dietz. Another thorn in Turlock's side was Evelynn Baeza, who picked up three sacks and made four total tackles.

El Capitan has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 24 points this season. As for Turlock, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

El Capitan wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 13-6 victory against Kimball on the 23rd. As for Turlock, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 19-0 win against Livingston on the 23rd.
