Basketball Game Preview: Calvary Day Cavaliers vs. Benedictine Cadets

The Calvary Day Cavaliers will head out to face off against the Benedictine Cadets at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Calvary Day knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matches -- so hopefully Benedictine likes a good challenge.

Last Tuesday, Calvary Day was able to grind out a solid victory over Beach, taking the game 66-53. Given the Cavaliers' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 76th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 205th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Benedictine had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 64-29 win over the Panthers. The Cadets have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 21 points or more this season.

Calvary Day better keep an eye on Caleb Jones. He was instrumental in Benedictine's win, going 6 for 10 on his way to 19 points. The game was Jones' 39th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Micah Williams, who posted nine points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

Calvary Day has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.6 points per game. As for Benedictine, they pushed their record up to 12-2 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.

Calvary Day beat Benedictine 55-47 when the teams last played back in December of 2022. Will Calvary Day repeat their success, or does Benedictine have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
