Elcho took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Three Lakes/Phelps, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Hornets sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over Three Lakes/Phelps on Tuesday. While the Hornets didn't have the best season last year (they finished 2-6), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Josh Murphy was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI. Braydn Bricko also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Elcho pushed their record up to 4-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Three Lakes/Phelps, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Coincidentally, Elcho and Three Lakes/Phelps will both be playing Florence the next time they take the field. The Hornets will host the Bobcats at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, while Three Lakes/Phelps will head out to face them at 5:00 p.m. on May 7.
