Basketball Recap: Monterey Trail Takes a Loss

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Monterey Trail couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They were outmatched by the Lincoln Trojans and fell 77-43. The defeat continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Trojans: they've now lost four in a row.

Lincoln's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Anthony Moore, who went 7-for-13 on his way to 16 points along with six assists and six rebounds. Moore's evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Tre Simmons was another key player, going 8-for-11 to rack up 20 points and eight boards.

Monterey Trail's loss dropped their record down to 24-6. As for Lincoln, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 27-3.

Monterey Trail does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lincoln, they will face off against Modesto Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Modesto Christian's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
