Basketball Recap: Axtell Takes a Loss

Axtell was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They lost 41-17 to the Ansley/Litchfield Spartans. The Wildcats were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Spartans earlier this season, when they won 39-30.

Despite the defeat, Axtell saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Morgan Hawkins posted nine points.

Ansley/Litchfield's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kerry M Ryan, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Asia Lyon, who had nine points along with five boards and four steals.

Axtell's loss dropped their record down to 4-14. As for Ansley/Litchfield, their victory bumped their record up to 7-13.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Axtell will square off against Loomis at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Ansley/Litchfield, they will take on Arcadia/Loup City at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Arcadia/Loup City will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Ansley/Litchfield surely won't give up without a fight.
