Basketball Recap: Sterling Picks Up Eighth Straight Win at Home

Sterling won against Ninnekah last Tuesday with 75 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. The Sterling Tigers put the hurt on the Alex Longhorns with a sharp 75-52 victory. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 79th, while the Longhorns are ranked 382nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Sterling pushed their record up to 14-2 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.9 points per game. As for Alex, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season.

Sterling will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Indiahoma at 8:00 p.m. on January 28th. Sterling is facing Indiahoma at the right time seeing as Indiahoma is stuck on a four-game losing streak. Alex will also get a bit of a break before their next contest: they'll face off against Velma-Alma at 8:00 p.m. on January 28th. One thing working in Velma-Alma's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last ten games.
