Basketball Game Preview: Fairland Dragons vs. South Webster Jeeps

The Fairland Dragons and the South Webster Jeeps will face off at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Fairland comes in on 12 and South Webster on three.

On Friday, Fairland didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Chesapeake, but they still walked away with a 55-49 victory. Given the Dragons' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 28th, while the Panthers are ranked 87th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Brody Buchanan was his usual excellent self, putting up 30 points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Cliff Fransen, who posted 12 points and seven boards.

Meanwhile, South Webster got the win against Portsmouth West on Friday by a conclusive 57-35. The Jeeps have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matchups by 22 points or more this season.

Fairland's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-1. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.6 points over those games. As for South Webster, their victory bumped their record up to 16-1.

Fairland came up short against South Webster when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 57-53. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of South Webster's Eli Roberts, who dropped a double-double on 31 points and 12 rebounds.
