Baseball Game Preview: Annapolis Area Christian Eagles vs. Severn School Admirals

The Annapolis Area Christian Eagles will square off against the Severn School Admirals at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Annapolis Area Christian was handed a six-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 win over Glenelg Country. The victory was some much needed relief for the Eagles as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

The team relied heavily on Roman Cobb, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Noah Beall, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Severn School waltzed into their contest on Friday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. They came out on top against the Cougars by a score of 13-8.

Colby Benz looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits.

On the hitting side, Fletcher Warner was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing five bases while going 2-for-4. Those five stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Lawrence Jacobs was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Severn School's win bumped their record up to 10-1. As for Annapolis Area Christian, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Annapolis Area Christian has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Severn School struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
