Baseball Recap: Bishop O'dowd Falls Short of Northgate in the Playoffs

Bishop O'Dowd and Northgate squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Bishop O'Dowd had to settle for second. They came up short against the Broncos, falling 9-2. The Dragons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Duncan Russell was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out 12 batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Bishop O'Dowd saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dimitri Williams, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Bishop O'Dowd's loss dropped their record down to 10-15-1. As for Northgate, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 17-7 record this season.

Bishop O'Dowd does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Northgate, they will square off against Piedmont at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Broncos 2, the Highlanders 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
