Basketball Recap: Newport Takes a Loss

Newport was the 48-44 winner over Elmira when they last played one another back in December of 2019, but their luck changed this time around. The Newport Cubs fell 45-32 to the Elmira Falcons on Wednesday. The Cubs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Newport's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Elmira, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Newport will be taking part in a tournament against Junction City at 8:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Elmira, it'll be Battle of the Birds when the Elmira Falcons face off against the East Linn Christian Academy Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
