Basketball Game Preview: Tanque Verde Hawks vs. Rio Rico Hawks

The Tanque Verde Hawks will challenge the Rio Rico Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Tanque Verde knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Rio Rico likes a good challenge.

Tanque Verde lost 86-62 to San Tan Foothills on Tuesday.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Rich Knott, who went 8 of 15 on his way to 24 points along with eight boards and seven assists. That's the most points he has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Dickens, who posted 11 points and three steals.

Meanwhile, Rio Rico was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were dealt an 86-42 loss at the hands of Ironwood Ridge. The Hawks were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 54-22.

Rio Rico's defeat dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Tanque Verde, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.

Tanque Verde beat Rio Rico 73-63 in their previous matchup back in November of 2023. Will Tanque Verde repeat their success, or does Rio Rico have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
