Basketball Recap: Russell Christian Academy Comes Up Short

Russell Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss dating back to last season. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 36-30 heartbreaker at the hands of the Tuscaloosa Christian Warriors. Russell Christian Academy was probably out for revenge after losing 34-29 to them when the teams met back in January of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

It was another big night for Alec Joiner, who posted ten points and eight rebounds for Tuscaloosa Christian. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Anglin, who scored 11 points and five boards.

Russell Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Tuscaloosa Christian, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 12-1.

Russell Christian Academy will welcome Eastwood Christian at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd. As for Tuscaloosa Christian, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 44-39 win against Success Unlimited Academy on the 17th.
