Hickory Grove Christian will be playing at home against Covenant Day at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Hickory Grove Christian is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Harrells Christian Academy last Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Lions were dealt a 41-7 loss at the hands of the Crusaders. The defensive woes were uncharacteristic for the Lions, who until this contest were averaging 13.25 points allowed.

Meanwhile, Covenant Day was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a blow against Harrells Christian Academy, falling 51-21. The Lions were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-7.

Despite the loss, Covenant Day saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Michael Banke rushed for 70 yards and a pair of scores. Speaking of playmakers, who could forget Thomas Barry, who went all the way with a kickoff return for a touchdown.

Covenant Day's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Hickory Grove Christian, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Hickory Grove Christian strolled past Covenant Day in their previous matchup back in November of 2024 by a score of 22-7. Will Hickory Grove Christian repeat their success, or does Covenant Day has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
