Soccer Game Preview: Unity Reed vs. Freedom

The Unity Reed Lions are taking a road trip to challenge the Freedom Eagles at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Unity Reed's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for six straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Unity Reed's offense. They lost 6-0 to Osbourn on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Freedom). They came out on top against Osbourn Park by a score of 3-1 on Wednesday. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but Freedom were the better team in the second half.

Freedom's win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 2-4. As for Unity Reed, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.

Everything went Unity Reed's way against Freedom when the teams last played back in March, as Unity Reed made off with a 3-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
