Basketball Game Preview: Marshwood Hawks vs. Massabesic Mustangs

The Marshwood Hawks will square off against the Massabesic Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Marshwood has eight straight wins, Massabesic has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

On Tuesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Marshwood beat Westbrook 56-50. Given the Hawks' advantage in MaxPreps' Maine basketball rankings (they are ranked ninth, while the Blue Blazes are ranked 55th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Massabesic came up short against Kennebunk on Tuesday and fell 36-27.

Marshwood pushed their record up to 14-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road. As for Massabesic, their loss dropped their record down to 5-11.

Marshwood didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Massabesic in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, but they still walked away with a 53-48 win. Will Marshwood repeat their success, or does Massabesic have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
