Football Preview: Modesto Panthers vs. Pitman Pride
Modesto hasn't had much luck against Pitman recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Panthers will head out to square off against the Pride at 7:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Modesto is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Ripon on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Panthers were beaten by the Indians 42-14. The Panthers were down 28-6 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
Although Modesto took the loss, they still got scores from Jordan Pitts and Izzy Ceniceros.
Meanwhile, Pitman didn't have quite enough to beat Atwater last Friday and fell 29-26.
Modesto will need to focus on slowing down Mason Helwick, one of several Pitman players who made an impact when they last played. He rushed for 70 yards and two TDs. Helwick is crushing it when it comes to rushing touchdowns: he's punched in at least two every time he's taken the field this season.
Pitman's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Modesto, they now have a losing record of 2-3.
