Baseball Recap: Sylva Bay Academy Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Sylva Bay Academy had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. They put the hurt on the Hattiesburg HomeSchool Forerunners with a sharp 13-7 win.

Tripp Mcgee was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing Two bases.

In other batting news, Micah Odom was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Sylva Bay Academy is undefeated when Odom posts two or more runs, but 1-2 otherwise. Timothy Moss also deserves some recognition as he scored his first runs of the season.

Sylva Bay Academy pushed their record up to 4-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing ten hits in those games compared to only 3.33 in the others. As for Hattiesburg HomeSchool, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-2.

Coming up, Sylva Bay Academy is taking a road trip to face off against Laurel Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be Sylva Bay Academy's first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Hattiesburg HomeSchool, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lamar Christian at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The last three games Lamar Christian has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
