Recap: King Lions vs. Freedom Patriots
The King Lions's game on Wednesday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They walked away with a 49-37 win over Freedom. That's another feather in the cap for King, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
King's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Heaven Pyfrom, who scored 18 points along with 4 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which Pyfrom has scored at least 25% of King's points. Another player making a difference was Oluwabusayo Michael-Asalu, who scored 3 points along with 9 steals and 7 rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Freedom lost, one person who can't be blamed is Emma Schroeder. Despite the final result, she scored 19 points. Schroeder scored a full 51.4% of Freedom's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Phoenix Palmer, who scored 6 points.
King's victory bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Freedom, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. King will challenge Middleton at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Middleton is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games. As for Freedom, they will head out on the road to face off against Leto at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
