Softball Recap: Charlotte Catholic Finds Home Field Redemption Against Butler

There's no place like home for Charlotte Catholic, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They walked away with a 12-7 victory over the Butler Bulldogs on Tuesday. With that win, the Cougars brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.

Rachel Wildman made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Evi Hoefling, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Reagan Ryan, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI.

Charlotte Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Charlotte Catholic now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Butler, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.

Looking ahead, Charlotte Catholic will look to defend their home field on Friday against East Mecklenburg at 5:30 p.m. As for Butler, they will face off against Myers Park at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
