Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Winfield). Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Jennings Warriors a 25-0 shutout on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for Winfield, who have now won 13 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Emma Dixon was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed an inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, she also racked up three strikeouts, the mostshe's had since back in September of 2023. She was even better at the plate, scoring three runs while going 2-for-2.
In other pitching news, Maci Knowles looked comfortable as she pitched an inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Winfield got a massive performance out of Claire Shoemake, who went 3-for-3 with two triples, three runs, and two RBI. What's more, Shoemake also racked up three hits, the mostshe's had since back in September. Another player making a difference was Isabel Reinebach, who went 4-for-4 with three runs and four RBI.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Winfield always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .793. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
