Having struggled with nine defeats in a row, Pojoaque Valley turned things around against Moriarty on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Pintos 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Elks/Elkettes have posted against the Pintos since October 26, 2022.

Pojoaque Valley took Moriarty into a fifth set where they got it done with a five-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-23, 21-25, 22-25, 15-10.

Meanwhile, Espanola Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 3-1 to Moriarty. While the Sundevils didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Pintos 25-18 in the first set.

Espanola Valley started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 18-25, 25-21, 25-23, 25-23.

Pojoaque Valley's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 3-18. As for Espanola Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-14.
