Basketball Recap: Lakeside Lancers vs. Hemet Bulldogs
Lakeside was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They had to suffer through a 74-39 loss at the hands of the Hemet Bulldogs. The Lancers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 51-18.
Despite the defeat, Lakeside saw an underclassman step up: freshman Justin Jones went 5 of 10 on his way to 17 points. Tayden Ridley also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steal of the season.
Quinton Skinner was his usual excellent self, shooting 4-for-6 from beyond the arc and dropping a double-double on 24 points and ten boards for Hemet. Skinner's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Kee-Esoul Pitchford was another key player, going 7 for 8 en route to 14 points and six rebounds.
Lakeside's loss dropped their record down to 6-20. As for Hemet, the win was the 21st in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 21-2.
Lakeside wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 60-52 victory against Vista del Lago on the 4th. Hemet does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
