Recap: Teague Lions vs. Westwood Panthers
The Teague Lions suffered their biggest loss since December 12, 2023 on Friday. They were the victim of a rough 72-50 defeat at the hands of Westwood. While losing is never fun, Teague can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1010th, while Westwood is ranked 308th).
Joshua Owens and Jkybryen Harris certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Owens scored 13 points along with five rebounds and three blocks, while Harris scored 17 points along with five rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Owens has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Kemauri Evans, who scored six points along with seven rebounds.
Teague has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season. As for Westwood, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 18-5.
Teague will be playing in front of their home fans against Buffalo at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Buffalo and Teague are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. As for Westwood, they will head out on the road to face off against Mexia at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mexia is on a seven-game streak of home wins, Westwood a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
