Volleyball Recap: Sierra Chieftains vs. Reedley Pirates
After flying high against Central East last Thursday, Sierra came back down to earth. The Chieftains took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Reedley Pirates on Tuesday. The Chieftains were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pirates apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.
The final score came out to 25-14, 25-20, 23-25, 25-10.
Addison Tillman paced Sierra's offense, picking up nine kills. Tillman got some help from Brooke Gibson and her 16 assists. Finally, Mia Bautista kept Sierra's defense grounded, leading the team with six blocks.
Reedley can attribute much of their success to Jocelyn Rodriguez, who had 18 digs and two assists. Rodriguez is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 12 or more in each of the last seven games she's played dating back to last season.
Sierra's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Reedley, they pushed their record up to 2-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.
Coming up, Sierra will square off against Woodlake at 8:25 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Reedley, they will head out to face off against Dinuba at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
