Preview: Shaler Area Titans vs. Fox Chapel Foxes
The Shaler Area Titans will head out on the road to take on the Fox Chapel Foxes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Shaler Area is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
Last Tuesday, Shaler Area suffered a rough 61-35 loss at the hands of Armstrong. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Shaler Area came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 12th, while Armstrong is ranked 182nd).
Meanwhile, Fox Chapel had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They strolled past Woodland Hills with points to spare, taking the game 60-41.
Will Siegel was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jefferson Moorefield-Brown, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Shaler Area's defeat ended an 11-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 18-3. As for Fox Chapel, their win bumped their record up to 12-9.
Shaler Area was able to grind out a solid victory over Fox Chapel in their previous meeting back in January, winning 39-27. The rematch might be a little tougher for Shaler Area since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
