Recap: Ponderosa Mustangs vs. Douglas County Huskies
The Ponderosa Mustangs pushed their score all the way to 60 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Douglas County 66-60. Ponderosa has not had much luck with Douglas County recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Ponderosa lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Noah Wilhelm, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. Wilhelm hasn't dropped below 15points for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Carson Keach, who scored 22 points along with two steals.
Douglas County found their leader in underclassman London Moore, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Reilly Guerra, who scored nine points along with seven steals and five rebounds.
Ponderosa's defeat dropped their record down to 10-3. As for Douglas County, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 11-2.
Ponderosa won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Evergreen at 1:00 p.m. on January 13th. Hopefully Evergreen focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 last Wednesday. Allowing an average of 59.8 points per game, Denver East has struggled on the defensive end, but that doesn't have to be the case in this game.
