Softball Recap: Evangel Christian Wins Going Away Against Coosa Valley Academy

Evangel Christian won the last time they faced Coosa Valley Academy and things went their way on Friday too. The Lightning were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over the Rebels. The result was nothing new for the Lightning, who have now won 12 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Jaydin Johnson and Raylee Evans did most of the damage at the plate: Johnson went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Evans scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Those four RBI gave Johnson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Gracelynn Shackelford, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

The win made it two in a row for Evangel Christian and bumps their season record up to 16-8. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games. As for Coosa Valley Academy, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-18.

Coming up, Evangel Christian will be playing at home against Ezekiel Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Lightning are on a four-game streak of home wins, the Knights a five-game streak of away wins, meaning someone's leaving a streak behind. As for Coosa Valley Academy, they will head out on the road to challenge Chambers Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
