Softball Game Preview: Massabesic Mustangs vs. Gorham Rams

The Massabesic Mustangs will challenge the Gorham Rams at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Massabesic is headed out to face Gorham after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. The Mustangs walked away with an 11-6 win over Marshwood on Friday.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Gorham). Everything went their way against Deering on Friday as they made off with an 18-2 victory. With that win, Gorham brought their scoring average up to 7.2 runs per game.

Bella McBrady made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. McBrady was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with four RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Terra Rioux, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Those runs were her first of the season. Winnie Dubail was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three RBI and one run.

Gorham always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .727. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Massabesic suffered a grim 14-0 defeat to Gorham in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Mustangs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
