            Baseball Recap: New London-Spicer Wildcats vs. Montevideo Thunderhawks        
        
		
        
        
            New London-Spicer was the  3-0 winner over Montevideo when they last played one another  back in May of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Wildcats fell just short of the Thunderhawks by a score of  3-2 on Tuesday.
 Logan Swenson was a  force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he  pitched 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned  (and two unearned) runs off   six  hits. What's more,  he gave up only two  walks, the fewest he's  had since back in April.
 On the hitting side, New London-Spicer saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Ethan Nelson, who  went 1-for-2 with two  RBI.
New London-Spicer's defeat dropped their record down to 12-8. As for Montevideo, the  win was  the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-2.
 New London-Spicer and Montevideo should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage  in the MaxPreps Minnesota Rankings. The Wildcats will  challenge  Dassel-Cokato  at 4:00  p.m.  on Thursday with a big rank  advantage  (71 vs. 211). Meanwhile,  Montevideo (ranked 17th) will meet Sauk Centre (ranked 243rd)  at 4:00  p.m.  on Thursday.
