Basketball Recap: Ferguson Snags Sixth Victory in Last Seven Games

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Ferguson walked away with it. They took down the Palmetto Panthers 53-35 on Friday. This was a revenge game for the Falcons: when they faced off against the Panthers back in December of 2024, they had to take a 50-48 loss.

Aunnie Stier continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double with 20 points and 15 rebounds. The matchup was her fourth in a row with at least 15 points. Sophia Diaz was another key player, putting up 12 points in addition to five assists and three steals.

Ferguson smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in five consecutive contests.

Despite the loss, Palmetto still got an impressive performance from Alessandra Falcon, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 16 boards. That was a full 37.1% of Palmetto's points, marking the third time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points.

Ferguson has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.4 points over those games. As for Palmetto, they now have a losing record at 7-8.

Ferguson and Palmetto are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Ferguson will square off against Western at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Ferguson is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.5 points per game this season. As for Palmetto, they will face off against Doral Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Doral Academy will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Palmetto surely won't give up without a fight.
