Recap: Lincoln Mustangs vs. Balboa Buccaneers

The Lincoln Mustangs had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They secured a 15-10 W over Balboa. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Lincoln also won the last time the pair played back in November of 2022.

Jamelle Newman was his usual excellent self, rushing for 126 yards and two touchdowns. Newman is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last five games he's played.

Lincoln is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season. As for Balboa, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lincoln will face off against Mission at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Mission comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Balboa, they will head out on the road to face off against Burton at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Burton comes in on a streak of failing to score more than eight points in their last six games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
