Softball Recap: Sheridan Snags Ninth Win in Last Ten Games

Sheridan's rock-solid pitchers showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 14-0 margin over the Lake Hamilton Wolves. The Yellowjackets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 games by eight runs or more this season.

Cooper Terry looked comfortable as she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Skylar Sterritt, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Jadyn Ashcraft also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Sheridan always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .645. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lake Hamilton only posted an OBP of .125.

Sheridan has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Lake Hamilton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-7.

Coming up, Sheridan will venture away from home to square off against Fayetteville at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. The Yellowjackets are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Lake Hamilton, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Hot Springs at 5:00 p.m. The Trojans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.9 runs per game on average), something the Wolves will no doubt try to take advantage of.
