Recap: Skipstone Academy Warriors vs. Peachtree Academy Panthers
The Skipstone Academy Warriors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their sixth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Peachtree Academy, falling 65-32. Skipstone Academy has not had much luck with Peachtree Academy recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Despite the loss, Skipstone Academy still got an impressive performance from Griffith Teate, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds. Teate has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. Kelvin "Deuce" Searcy was another key contributor, scoring five points along with five rebounds.
Leading Peachtree Academy to victory were Tom Mitchell and Noah Rodriguez. Mitchell scored 12 points along with five rebounds and two steals, while Rodriguez scored 20 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Rodriguez is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last eight games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Nate Occilien-Similien, who scored six points along with five rebounds and five blocks.
Skipstone Academy's loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 1-6. As for Peachtree Academy, their victory ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-6.
Skipstone Academy will take on CrossPointe Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Georgia (CrossPointe Christian Academy is ranked 587th, while Skipstone Academy is ranked 579th). Peachtree Academy won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Providence Classical Christian at 6:30 p.m. on January 12th.
