Volleyball Recap: Creighton Starts Season with Win Against Winside

Creighton gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Winside Wildcats. For the Bulldogs, this counts as revenge for the 2-1 victory the Wildcats walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2024.

If you add up the scores from across all five sets (108-95) Creighton actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. The final score came out to 25-23, 17-25, 13-25, 25-22, 15-13.

Claire Meyer paced Creighton's offense, picking up 17 kills. Meyer got some help from Ellison LaDeaux and her 16 assists. Finally, Jordyn Ebel kept Creighton's defense grounded, leading the team with three blocks.

When it comes to explaining why Winside lost, don't look at Adrianna Miller. Despite the final result, she had 21 assists and ten digs.

Creighton has already played their next matchup (against Osmond), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Winside, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-0 defeat against Howells-Dodge on the 30th.
