Basketball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Landstown

Landstown entered their tilt with Kempsville on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 64-54 victory over the Kempsville Chiefs. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 21st, while the Chiefs are ranked 102nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Landstown to victory, but perhaps none more so than Damien Robinson, who posted 21 points and eight rebounds. The contest was Robinson's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Josiah Law, who earned 11 points along with six rebounds and four blocks.

Landstown's win bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Kempsville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-3.

Landstown won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Denbigh at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Landstown has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 195 points over their last three games. As for Kempsville, they and Glen Allen will face off at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. One thing working in Glen Allen's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven contests.
