Softball Game Preview: Starks Panthers vs. Hackberry Mustangs + Official Tickets

Starks has gone 9-1 against Hackberry recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Panthers will look to defend their home field against the Mustangs at 6:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Starks took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. Everything went their way against Singer as they made off with a 17-7 win.

Brylie Smith was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Lakynn Landry was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Kynslee Stinson, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hackberry). They put the hurt on Elton with a sharp 26-14 victory on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Indians: they've now won three in a row.

Hackberry's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Starks, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.

Starks came out on top in a nail-biter against Hackberry in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, sneaking past 3-1. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
