Softball Recap: Western Wayne's Luck Changes for the Better on Wednesday

Western Wayne hadn't done well against Dunmore recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Wildcats walked away with a 6-2 victory over the Bucks. This was a revenge game for the Wildcats: when they faced off against the Bucks back in April, they had to take a 7-4 defeat.

Adysen Wargo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up 12 Ks. Those 12 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Hannah DeStefano, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Olivia Black was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Western Wayne lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

With the win, Western Wayne broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-10. As for Dunmore, their loss dropped their record down to 10-7.

Western Wayne didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 12-6 victory against Lakeland on the 12th. As for Dunmore, they have also already played their next game, a 9-0 win against Mountain View on the 10th.
