Softball Game Preview: Marist Spartans vs. North Bend Bulldogs

For the second straight game, Marist will face off against North Bend. The Spartans will challenge the Bulldogs at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Marist knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past seven matchups -- so hopefully North Bend likes a good challenge.

If Marist beats North Bend with 17 runs on Friday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Spartans were the clear victors by a 17-5 margin over the Bulldogs on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won seven contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Marist let Lera Basom and Bridget Stephenson run wild. Basom went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, three RBI, and one triple, while Stephenson went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most stolen bases Stephenson has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Finley Schweigert, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Marist was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .478. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .351 or higher in three consecutive matches.

Marist's win bumped their record up to 10-8. As for North Bend, their loss dropped their record down to 5-10.
