Basketball Recap: Badger's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Two

If Mathews wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Badger, they should've done a better job of containing Gabriella Miller. The Badger Braves enjoyed a cozy 51-35 victory over the Mathews Mustangs on Thursday thanks in part to Miller, who posted 25 points along with eight boards and six steals. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points.

Another player making a difference was Sophie Stanhope, who put up 11 points and five rebounds. She has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played.

The win made it two in a row for Badger and bumps their season record up to 9-13. As for Mathews, their loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-17.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Badger will take on Lowellville in a tournament on February 15th. As for Mathews, they and Harding will face off at 6:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played.
